WeArePolitical is a not-for-profit, social enterprise registered as an LTD due to our openly political nature - i.e we promote antiracism, intersectionality and decolonisation. We aim to raise a specific amount of money from our events to donate to necessary causes such as the man-made famine in Palestine or the imperial genocide of the Congo. Excess funds are then reinvested into other fundraising/community events. This 2-step system ensures we can consistently donate 3-4x the money invested into a ticket for causes that need it! For instance, if you were to donate £1, we would use that £1 to hold an event where 4 more people would then donate £1 for a ticket, then that £4 will get donated.

We Are Political is dedicated to creating a safe space for marginalised communities in Belfast. This includes a thorough zero tolerance policy towards racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, anti-immigration sentiment and general discrimination. Including microaggressions and hostility. We strive to create a welcoming space for everybody who has experienced such discrimination and aim to not perpetuate it further.

WeArePolitical does not only focus on Palestine, but also extends its support to oppressed countries such as Congo and Sudan, as well as the Kashmir people, Uyghur Muslims and many more under colonialism. We also place emphasis on local minority communities, and promote their safety and comfort, hence our no tolerance policy. Our board has people from many different backgrounds, which means we host a diverse range of perspectives, and are a very unified group in our core values. Finally, we aim to further support countries under siege that many may not be aware of or have little knowledge about.

In order to raise awareness and fundraise money for oppressed people and oppressed countries, we hold many events throughout the year. This includes bake sales, comedy nights, movie screenings, teach-ins, painting auctions and many more events to come. Our events have a compassionate, donate what you can pricing scheme. If you are unable to afford a ticket, please reach out to us privately, as accessibility and inclusivity is core to what we do. Our educational events are completely free, and will be held multiple times throughout the year. Education should be accessible and open to all.

To keep our website and our organisation afloat, we have decided to include a small admin fee. This will help us continue to organise events through keeping our website and email running. A minor allocation of the administrative fee is also reserved for a volunteer appreciation event, ensuring we continue to build a motivated, valued, and sustainable team. Our volunteers work around the clock to keep these fundraisers running and are the backbone of WeArePolitical. Such as through graphic creation, event promotion, regularly responding to emails, ensuring we have a safe space for those from different backgrounds, safeguarding and communicating in different languages to work with refugee communities, alongside small business collaboration etc.

Proceeds collected through our fundraisers and events will go towards those in oppressed countries; such as Palestine, Congo and Sudan. We research charities before we donate to them, and, when required, speak with people from these communities to ensure that funds reach the most effective and trustworthy organisations. We also work directly with Palestinians who have moved to Belfast from Gaza, and create a space where they can sell their own products, 100% of these proceeds go to their families back in Palestine.
